Bodies

Yesterday I went with a group of seniors to an exhibition called "Bodies." This is a fantastic exhibit of the human body and you come away from the exhibit wondering how we turn out as perfect as we are. For instance, I read a news article on CNN recently about a girl in India who was born with eight limbs -- four arms and four legs. Her twin stopped growing and she was left with the twin's arms. The bodies, which come from China, are shed of their skin and soaked in a hardening solution. Some bodies are split down the middle so you get to see where all the organs are located. Another body might show muscles and how they interact with bones, nerves, ligaments, etc. while another body shows the nerves, arteries or bones. As I said, it's a fascinating exhibit and if it comes to your area, you should go see it.

Retirement is Great

I've just talked/visited with two good Foreign Service friends, one who recently retired and the other who retired a year before I did, and both are chanting the delights of retirement. I feel the same way. The day I walked out of the Department of State, I forgot all about work, my Foreign Service career, and all the ups and downs I had during the last few years of working. But I didn't forget my FS friends, both American and foreign national. So hi to everyone and will be back in touch with more later.
